MUSICA VIVA NY OUTREACH

Beyond high-quality concert performances, Musica Viva NY also serves the communities of New York City through a variety of rich outreach programs. Currently, Musica Viva NY partners with New York city public schools, extracurricular youth ensembles, New York Public Library branches and the All Souls’ Monday Night Hospitality meal program, offering free performances, artist clinics, interactive workshops, and more.

Musica Viva NY Outreach is made possible by a generous grant from The Heart and Soul Charitable Fund.

Visits to schools

Musica Viva NY artists visit schools where they:

Perform program-specific repertoire connected to our own concert series.

Demonstrate and explain playing an instrument and/or singing.

Run workshops to heighten the experience of repertoire already being taught to students and participate in student rehearsals

Partnership with
NY Public Library

Free, interactive concerts from MVNY soloists at NYPL branches.

A quartet sings music from the Renaissance to the present day

Children and families learn a simple folk song to sing at home.

Families take the folk song, along with information about the music and about MVNY, home with them

Monday night hospitality

Musica Viva NY soloist Nathan Siler performs for Monday Night Hospitality guests on the second Monday of each month.

Monday Night Hospitality is a weekly program at All Souls Church that welcomes New Yorkers to share a meal, enjoy fellowship, and access information and services to help them with housing, health, food insecurity, and building
community.
