To conclude its season, Musica Viva NY, the Aeolus Quartet, and its friends will perform a program whose central theme is caring for others. The concert opens with the haunting serenity of Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings. Benjamin Britten’s Cantata Misericordium deals with the Good Samaritan story, and was written for the centenary of the Red Cross. James Macmillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross, for mixed choir and strings, contains a powerful message of concern for others.
