Composers do not work in a vacuum: the paths forged by their predecessors can be traced in their musical language. In this program Musica Viva NY spotlights composers paying tribute to past masters through their compositions. Lera Auerbach pays tribute to W. A. Mozart, Arvo Pärt to Benjamin Britten, Francis Poulenc to J. S. Bach and Dietrich Buxtehude, and Maurice Duruflé to the great chant composers of the Middle Ages.
